Re: The WICKED Root & Debris GRAPPLE!!!!!!!

Use of the skid steer is cheating. :) Tracked at that! If you pulled one of your lids would you even be able to tell the difference on either machine?:D

They're both double lids! How badly the CTL beats a tractor is sad. It'll significantly out push, out lift, and the visibility is so much better. The ability to push sideways is also nice. Tractor grapples don't do well in a tangled mess of brush with tons of radiator spears. I can straighten up such a mess pretty good with the CTL. The picture better represents the scale of that grapple. IMG_9425.JPG

The want is incredibly strong with this one.

Will see in a couple weeks, just spent the weekend using a prime attachments tree puller and stacked far too many trees for a regular bucket to handle, grapple seems like the tool to use for moving trees once pulled.

A grapple, yea. I was just meaning your wallet needs to be incredibly strong for a CTL and that big grapple above, especially if buying new...

I think the pricing is within reason for a quality grapple.

I'm having trouble deciding between a 55" or 73" width for an M7060. I have decided I'd like the dual lid, however.

Agreed, rented a 80hp 3100 lift CTL this weekend for tree pulling. Holy functional.

Pricing at EA? Most definitely. That big beast above? No clue what it costs, but the machine to run it isn't cheap. :)

Deciding wide or narrow I think really comes down to your operating environment. A wider grapple mainly just allows you to move larger piles of brush. The concept that a wider grapple will better support off balance loads better is a misconception that will make a tractor 'tippy' and put twisting forces on the loader that even if nothing bends or breaks, it will wear pins faster and require more maintenance. If you have no obstacles to navigate, no tight areas you need to reach into, and have large areas of brush to grub up and remove, go with a wider grapple. If you need to operate in tight quarters, need to grub brush roots from smaller areas without damaging as much surrounding sod, or want to do more precision work with it, get the narrower grapple.

Why do you like the dual lid? Any experience using either single or dual? Ever heard a complaint by someone who has a single??
