The Tractor Scam 2018 Kubota Grand L4760

When I was getting ready to move from CA to Texas, my ex wanted a SUV instead of her Honda Accord. the Honda was just 2 years old and in perfect shape. I wanted to sell it quickly, so I listed it in AutoTrader for just a little more then what we owed on it. I never had one single person call about it. When the add expired after 4 weeks, I tried to think of what I should do. Lower the price? Try some other way of selling it? Or ask what everyone else was asking for them with similar hours. I listed it again for $2,000 more then the first time and sold it in a couple of days with multiple phone calls.

If you have followed my other posts you know I'm searching for a tractor. I clicked a facebook ad for a 2018 Kubota Grand L4760. $16,000. I clicked on contact seller and sent email.

Right of the bat, The price is to good to be true. Red flag is going off. I already heard the husband died before. I image it's possible and giving the benefit of the doubt I replied.

Yeap, Red Flag confirmed it's a Scam Also the pics see sent me the engine hours don't match what she told it was.
Buy from a reputable tractor re-seller or a dealer. I got a used 20 hr LS for a GREAT price everything was perfect.

Every once in a great while deals that are too good to be true turn out to be true after all. I will qualify that by saying that you MUST know the seller - stuff on Craigslist etc., is most likely to be a scam.

Bought a house out of a divorce sale by taking over a $7,000 mortgage. I knew both parties. I bought another one some years later for $14,000 (inflation?) because the seller was a LEO and the city he worked for passed an ordinance that all their LEO people had to live in town. He'd bought a house in the town and this one need to go away. Soon, too, he couldn't do two house payments. Rented it out for a decade, the neighborhood eventually went to pot and I sold it.

Bought a 1958 44 passenger International Harvester school bus for - wait for it - a dollar. Owner (who I knew) said make it go away TODAY, I obliged him. (Co-ventured with a friend half and half, fifty cents each), dragged it away. Changed the plugs, cleaned the points, sold it a week later for $500 cash to a guy who wanted to live in it.

Bought an airplane with a bad cylinder from a teacher who just simply didn't want it any more, $4,000. Still have it (and have spent more than that just on the radios since).

There are more, but the one thing that is a constant is that all these transactions were face to face with the sellers. It is simply too easy to be scammed on the net, do these deals in person or don't even start. Even in person, trust your gut. If someone explains their deal to you three times and you still don't understand it, it isn't because you are dumb, it is because they don't want you to understand it. Grip wallet firmly in hand and run away NOW.

Best Regards,

Mike/Florida

(and PS - tractors don't have titles in Florida - caveat emptor!)
Thanks for the info on tractors have no title in Florida. I knew a lot of states don't but was not sure on Fl

If it is too good to be true, then it is a scam. Craigslist is a good place to find such "scams". Price half or less what such a tractor would sell for.
Remember there is no free lunch. Catches people all the time.

Sorry for not responding sooner, I got caught in some other matters. I am selling the tractor because I don't need it anymore and paying insurance, maintenance, and storage isn't worth it and that's the reason why I want to sell it asap. Another reason for selling it is because I work in the military and right now I'm in a training military base in Europe. The tractor is in a storage facility in Denver CO ready for delivery because someone agreed to buy it, but in the end, he never got the loan. For this reason, the shipping is my responsibility. My unit is deployed and I can use Pro Trucking Company Colorado to handle the delivery.

Please note that you'll get a reasonable time to inspect the tractor before I get paid. I mean it will be delivered to your place and you'll get up to 5 days to check and inspect everything on it.

If you want to continue the purchase, please reply with your full name, delivery address, and phone number so I can register the transaction with Pro Trucking and ask them to forward the Sales agreement to you for review. God bless!

even recieved a response from trucking co with aggreement contract.

too good to be true!

thanks for posting.

I laugh at the tractor posts that state "no accidents, clean title in hand". Those get "reported", for what good that does...

Scammers rarely have multiple pictures in their listings. They rarely have good descriptions. It’s usually just a few words or filled with inaccuracies like clear title or automatic transmission. They’ll almost always give you some story that it belonged to someone else. Marketplace is about the only platform I use and scammers there will almost always have a business name that’s rarely related to what they’re selling. They’ll typically have a lowball price. And the one 100 percent guaranteed mark it’s a scam is the tractor is at another location and they’ll arrange to ship it. I can’t believe people actually send them money sight unseen but apparently they do.

Even on here, you could get scammed..... a couple months ago, somebody was selling a chipper in the 'for sale' thread. At first, he said the chipper was in southern NM.... I said I would drive down to see it. Then, miraculously, it was over in Arizona..... I told him I have a few friends there and they can come look at it. Then it miraculously moved to North Carolina.

He would gladly accept $500 to have it shipped out to me.....
I 'reported' the post and it was removed within a half hour.

He was also trying to sell a JD 1025, but that kept getting moved to other states too! I actually spoke with him on the phone.... he was getting irate over the fact that I wanted to see it first!

Wife got burned as a seller. She believes this old bed she has is worth money, so when someone had conditions on the buy, she fell for it. I tried to warn her off, but she is very independent and usually intelligent. Cost us about 2k.

I almost got divorced just last week over a puppy that was for sale. She eventually had to "eat crow" and realized that it was a scam when the people wanted her money up front before even being able to "see" the dog. What a joke. She'll be reminded of this one for a "while".

PS. I want a Corvette. Anybody have one they can "ship" to me for a "good deal" ?
