That T wasn't allowed by code (horizontal to horizontal) 50 years ago when I was working for a plumbing company running cast iron pipe with lead and oakum joints. It's supposed to be a sweep or a y with 45s. I don't think the code has changed to allow that. HOWEVER, in your case since it is only from the kitchen sink, i don't think you'll have a problem. The purpose of the sweep is to get the solids moving in the downstream direction before they merge with the main line. In the case of the T if there are solids they will hit the wall of the main pipe and splash both ways and begin to build up on the upstream side and cause a blockage. Also, your clean out normally should have a clean out T, or have the kitchen sink come in upstream of the clean out. However, since all other sewage comes down the other pipe, I don't think you'll have a problem since that will keep the intersection flushed out.

Good work, JHurt, I have been following this thread with great interest, knowing that I may have to go to work on mine some day. My house was built in 74, a neighbor up the road built his in 77 or 78, he had to completely redo his last year, looked like he spent Megabucks wit all the excavation and tree removal I saw. I'm sure his wife held him to strict rules on the project, she is a retired EPA head honcho for the region...a real enviro-****.

Put a few hours on the 7060 today. Practiced my loader skills, and they are still not good. I need a lot more practice! All filled in, and ready for some gentle rains to get things settled.
