Before BOH, he was in "Rocky Horror Picture Show."

Saw Meat in concert... helluva artist/performer. I put him in the same realm as Freddie Mercury.

I saw Meat at a small club in a casino in Vegas. I think it was called cocktails and rock tales. He chatted with the audience, told some stories and sang some songs. It was really fun event.

Cool... I remember the cover well. He wasn't a bad actor either.
I was talking to my wife about Roadie, as I don't think she's seen it..... gonna have to pull it up somehow..... a pretty incredible list of cameos in that film.

Once in a blue moon, I'll use his line (stares into camera.... Why is my Life So Hard ?) around people who know me well..... Not a self-pity line, just to signify a day where Things are Getting Extra Sideways......

Reading obits, saw a line from Todd Rungren, about his vocal performance..... "If Springsteen can take it Over the Top, then Meat can take it 5 Storeys Up"

That was of course the day that Buddy Holley died. Lately though, we are losing some of what I would term "our generations" greats. David Bowie, Glenn Fry and a number of actors.

With a leap of faith, I get the feeling that many of the members are more or less my vintage (65)? If so, going back to the crazy days of the late sixties and early seventies, no matter what, we had some great music. Certainly much better than what IMHO is being made today. It seems like rock songs try to hard to cover to many themes, country is for those that cannot make it in the rock world, etc, etc.

Anyway, we are barely into the new year and everyday we hear of someone that once was (or perhaps still is) relavent passing on. RIP
When my son returned from college, he moved in with me for awhile.
He was amazed at the quality of music playing in my house.
After each song, I would comment, "he's dead"

There are several full-length meatloaf concerts on youtube. A lot of interviews, too. Good stuff.

I missed this when you posted. They were a great band during my "surfer" years but could not play Wipeout like the original song by the Safaris. The Safari's drummer couldn't be matched but I remember every band had to give it try. There were a few local groups that pulled it off pretty well though.
