I'm full... Thanksgiving this year got me thinking of past years. I have had thanksgiving diner on Navy ships for many years, once in Mombosa Kenya at a fleet landing, once in a Deneys in Roseburg OR off I-5, and a few in the Philippines. Glad to be home with my family this year and hopefully for the rest of my life. Just thinking of other folks thanksgivings or exeperices? My son just came downstairs with a turkey sandwich... new experince for me!

Thanksgiving dinner where I grew up (in North Dakota)
Thanksgiving dinner in Texas - where I live now

But I think im my mind it was alway best where I grew up!!

Had thanksgiving in Oak Harbor too... Mostly in Coupeville... I'm a Whidbey Island sailor. Lived in Coupeville for 10 years. Son born at Whidbey General and daughter at Oak Harbor Naval Hospital. Green tractor is a deutz-allis from Kiels in Mount Vernon, still driving a ford truck from frontier ford in Acacortes and son is now driving the old toyota from Bellingham. "Brown shoes" from VA-155 and VA-128... watched the last A-6E trap and cat from the USS Carl Vinson from the Flag Bridge as we steamed by my house (Olson Road) which is a dead end road by West Beach road (poor mans waterfront). Still have good friends living in Port Townsend and Oak Harbor. Still read the Whidbey News Times online each week. Bought a 1949 ford 8N in Burrington and used it for years on my 3 acre parcel for plowing, mowing, etc. Sold it at the last minute before we left to "Charlie Brown".

Last year Thanksgiving fell on our last day visiting Delhi India where you won't find any turkey. We had to wait 2 days to get home then finally ate leftover turkey served by our relatives.

Here's a photo I made that last day departing Delhi. This holy cow waited politely at the back of a restaurant, then was given a sandwich.

I spent my 22nd B-day on a train from Calcutta to New Delhi. It was only 12 hours late in arriving. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I love the cow pic. The thing that I really enjoyed was learning some of the little things about the culture you don't normally come across. Like the larger the hump on the cow, the more holey the animal.
