I posted this intending to delete it. I posted something the other day in the wrong forum and have been trying to figure out how to delete it but so far haven't figured it out. I pm'd one of the mods and asked him and he said "Yes, you can delete a post within a short time". How you do it is a secret I guess. Anybody know HOW TO DELETE YOUR OWN POST?

Yes, the short time is 24 hours. Click "Edit Post":

Click "Delete"

Click "Delete message"

Click "Delete Post"

You must not be using a computer to post with.

What happens when you click Edit Post?

Not to be the forum police, but posting a test in the main forums is not the best place. It clutters up the boards and may not stand out right away to the mods.

It is better to post tests and site questions in the "news and feedback " forum.

With almost 500 posts I'm not clear on what you are testing.

500 posts? I posted 2 times and tried to delete both of them immediately. When I click on Edit Post there is no option to delete. Sorry for cluttering up your board. I'll try not to bother you again.

Yes, I am using a computer. Up until this morning I got three options when I clicked on Edit Post.
Save Go Advanced Cancel
This morning when I click Edit Post I get Save Go Advanced Delete Cancel, just like you said it would. Apparently Bird or somebody fixed the problem. Sorry for cluttering up the board. A few days ago I posted in the wrong forum and simply wanted to delete my post and move it to the right one.

If you need something deleted or removed and don’t have the option to do so just PM a moderator and ask them to assist.

The almost 500 posts is how many posts since you joined. Meaning you are not new to the board.
Usually only new users test.

No need to get defensive, I was simply trying to inform you of basic forum practices that are not well known.

Now that you mentioned your issue, a lot of boards dont allow users to delete threads. Users can delete posts, but only mods can delete threads.

If you had posted this issue/question in the site news/feedback forum, a mod would answer it for you.

Again.....just providing information.

And you don't have to PM a moderator. Just use the "report post" button (that little triangle with the exclamation mark in it) and give a reason. All the mod staff will see it and one of them will handle the request/report.

Also, if you are missing buttons or features, try using a different browser.

Sometimes browsers (especially Internet Explorer) are not fully compatible with a website.

I merged the two "test" threads together and moved them to the News/Feedback forum. Left a 1 month redirect in the original position.
