i,m a new tc owner, before i started to mow i noticed there was no filter over hydraulic oil cooler, so i took one from home to cover it just in case, after 3-4 hours the filter was covered in dirt, bobcat dealer said could use filter or just hose it off when needed, what do you folks do, thanks

That is how most tractors and other machines have the oil coolers. Just clean with water or air if it gets dirty. Try to wash/air from the backside, opposite of the air flow. Any tight mesh or protective covering placed directly on the cooler may reduce the air flow and not allow it to cool as well.
