I mentioned a while back that some of the ads are highly intrusive and bandwidth sinks and they were causing substantial page display slowness as well as the interaction with keystroke entry in real time. That wasn't taken very well. Said I am the ONLY one having the problem and it HAD to be MY computer. So consequently I just do not spend nearly as much time here. Way too frustrating. I merely private message a friend, and that is about it. Even then sometimes I just have to shut it down and come back some other time when the turbulence has subsided and I can type without waiting for the words to catch up to my fingers.
You CAN overwhelm a message board script with remote calls to ad handler servers. Every remote call on a page has to reference a remote ad hosting server, which means through MULTIPLE servers in serial, each of which injects it's own delay on the ad fetch and accumulates the delay for the page display on your device. Multiply this times several ads for each page, and you can better understand the variables being juggled for that requested page display you are waiting for.
There is a point of diminishing returns for ads. Substantial traffic and a large intrusive ad load are very often inversely proportional.
My opinionated advice? Don't try to get rich off of message boards ads. The people making the real money are only throwing you peanuts.
Anyway, just wanted to let others know that NO, it is NOT your computer and NO it is not only YOU.
