The thread title is the title of an HBO movie about a Marine LtCol escorting the body of a PFC killed in action to his home.
This was based upon a journal written by the LtCol escort during the trip. The LtCol (his name is Strobl) also co-wrote the movie.
It's quite touching and I recommend it to all Veterans.

My Wife and I both watched that movie. It was about 6 weeks ago when Direct TV had a free weekend of the premium channels such as HBO;etc. We both cried. And I mean we cried several times during that Movie. We kept passing the Kleenex box to each other. Thanks for posting.

I didn't have to watch the movie, my son was one of those Marines whose duty was notifying the immediate family and the follow up. Hardest duty he ever had and just retired after 21 yrs.

Yep, good movie regardless of how you feel about any of the wars.

I saw an interesting segment on 60 Minutes about the young Marine who was awarded the Medal of Honor; heroism and service to one's country stands alone.

Some movies just grab you by the heart strings, fer sure.

The real thing is nothing like movies though.

This one was...the writer was the same LtCol Stobl who escorted PFC Chance Phelps home.
