The EVs are faster than gassers. In fact, I'm really impressed with the EV heavy equipment but wish their prices were lower. Here is a blog that gives and overview of our potential future.

Oh yes, they are faster. Point I was trying to make is if your EV batteries are dead and you forget to recharge and theres an emergency, it will take a while to recharge them enough just to get out of the garage. That could be a problem.
Interesting link on EV equipment.

I wonder how ev equipment is going to get recharged in the field where there often is no electricity available. Diesel generators? Seems a bit counterintuitive to me.

A: Cummins, CAT or John Deere.

Something else to keep in mind is that 3.0 GM diesel requires an oil pump replacement at 150k miles. That requires dropping the transmission (and transfer case of 4wd).

Gonna be expensive.
Might be expensive, but for me, odds are it will be someone else's nickel. I do love this truck, but I don't get married to my vehicles. i have no illusions that i will drive this until the end of time. For me, it's likely to be somewhere in the 100k-ish range, especially considering this is turbocharged with lots of emissions, and in a crappy climate. I do my best to find the balance where current used trade value is at its peak and costly repairs could start to appear. It's all a gamble, not to mention that up here rust is also a big contender in repair cost and value.

I started doing just that with my trucks. Trade them around 75k when they still have good value. I pay my stuff off fairly quick. A cost of living to me as I live below my means ... generally lol.

When I lived in Denver and had my old Ford 7.3 diesel, the best mileage I got was driving in the mountains. I gained more coasting downhill then I lost going uphill.

That probably has a lot to do with it.
I'm fully in agreement on that. with both of my last small diesels I believe that I can do better on efficiency with slight power up hill and coast downhill, as opposed to constant throttle. momentum is your friend.
