TYM T255
Hi Community,

Does anybody know who builds the hydrostatic transmissions for the T254/255 tractors, are they used on other Tym tractors or even on other brands (Not the RK24, Mahindra Emax, Branson 2505H since these are all the same tractors)

thx
J.

Right? Same situation for my T224. You can look up parts diagrams that show you the hydrostatic drive unit, but the p/n leads you to nowhere other than other TYM brand machines like Badboy, RK, etc.

I guess the good thing is, I haven't seen a single report of issues with the transaxle in general on any of the TYM or similar units. Seems to be made well are heavy cast iron, plus has the serviceable strainer and the spin-on hydraulic filter.

It's interesting, all the lawn and garden companies use the same hydrostatic units and we all know them, but are hydrostatic transaxles made in-house for larger machines, or are they sourced?

Not positive but suspect they are sourced from an outside manufacturer. A possible source is Kanzaki Transmissions or a similar company.

That being the case, you'd think they'd have Tufftorq/Kanzaki markings of some sort on them somewhere. We'll get to the bottom of this...

The T224 is not the same as the Mahindra. The eMax was made by TYM, but different engines.

There are minor differences on the others.

TYM has been making tractors for 75 years. They either build their own or have a dedicated sub that makes them.

TYM could be purchasing the HST pump and motor to be installed in their transaxle housing. If this is the case you probably would not find any markings on the outside of the transaxle assembly.

When I purchased my 2400H the mechanic thought they were Eaton copies which is now part of Danfoss but I think this was more speculation than fact.
