It compresses the springs when under force, allowing the differenential gears to disengage. You can put a washer under each spring to shim them, increasing the amount of force required before the gears disengage.
Or, you can replace the springs with new ones. Over time, these springs weaken...
That's awesome I took it all apart and cleaned the 20 year old grease out and put new in that got it working better but I will defiantly try the washers thanks for the tip
