I have switched to the belt clips 2" wide suspenders for the last 12 years.

Walmart use to have them for about $8 but I'll bet the price today is about $12.

There easy to adjust on the front while wearing them, and I do not miss the Metal clips coming loose all of the time, and also do not miss the marks on my belts from them.

I have a variety of suspenders and all the ones with a metal clip have been retired due to scratches on chairs. Wood finishes and leather take a beating from the metal clips. I use the dickies that have a plastic clip onto the belt.

That is one of the reason that I have gone with the side clip style, they very seldom catch on chairs or tractor or truck seats.
Also the ones that I use fasten into my jeans with a pin that goes into an eye.
I have been wearing this style for many years now with no damage to my jeans,
I had been using the alligator clip style that grasps either the jeans or your belt and they did chew up both.

I'm not aware of this style, do you have a link to one?

I use them to keep my bed sheets on and in place.

Yes they are the Holdups linked to in post #2,
some of my jeans are over a year old with no damage from the suspenders,
which are worn daily I wear jeans everywhere but, weddings, and funerals

I skipped over suspenders and went straight to overalls. Big Smith.

I have used holdups and suspender store for a long time. I wear them over my t-shirt which is then under my button down. I don't wear outer type T shirts because I need pockets.

Anything with clips will eventually destroy your pants. The metal does scratch things and if you sweat a lot they will rust all the metal parts. They will also pinch you if you're not careful.

The plastic clips are good but still will get too loose to hold your pants up. They use a cam type clamp that is all plastic so it wears then has no grip.

I have moved to the type where you buy a pack of denim buttons and press them through your pants like crimps and the leather straps have slits in them that go on the buttons. They are just like the main button on your jeans and haven't come apart.

The only issue is they have dyed leather and the dye will bleed onto your shirt if it gets wet. But they haven't let my pants down once as opposed to both the metal pin clips and the plastic grip clips have.

It's a weird feeling when you feel one pop loose and you have to go make an adjustment.

I haven't found perfect ones yet. 41yiXbY4FaL._AC_SY400_.jpgScreenshot_20200827-021014_Opera.jpg
