Most of the laws that allow surveyors access do not really specify why or how it is allowed. I know one state requires you inform owners. I would say over the years roughly half of the surveys I worked on none of the corners were in place. If they aren’t there you have no choice but to look Bryon on other peoples property.

I can’t say exactly how many surveys I did over the years, probably approaching a 1000 and probably of those we maybe had people get upset that we were on their property less then 50 times. Of those 50 times there was probably 6 times it was a real issue. Most of the time if you tell them what your doing they are ok with it.
There is a difference between walking near the line because you don't know exactly where it is or even because the walking is easier on the abutter's ATV trail; vs driving up somebody's driveway unamnouced and parking next to their house to walk 3000 feet to the line you are surveying.
Or in the case of my father's property I cited earlier; cutting the cable so that you can drive down his road.

Yeah I get it, someone can always come up with an example where someone abused a right.

I have kept a few of the conversations I have had with Muhammad, but I would never share them with the group without his permission.
Suffice it to say he is liberal I think he has even at least in one point admitted that to me, and everybody has the right to their own personal political proclivities. I am proud of my conservative bent.
All I will say is he asked me not to leave his platform and there’s only really one reason that he would ask me not to leave his platform, and that’s because every one of you has a very large value to him and his platform!
I firmly believe that is one thing that most of the people on this platform failed to recognize!
As I previously mentioned, I do not think of Muhammad as a “bad guy” (as I do some of the liberals on the left) and in my first post of the day today, all I did was say, I was not surprised by his doing a liberal thing that most liberals love!

It appears that I peed off, at least one liberal, if not two………

Who carries blanks? :ROFLMAO: Tracers I can see (no pun intended) but no real use for blanks...
Noise to simulate shots?

We have a starter pistol somewhere before they became politically incorrect…

I would not feel comfortable shooting into the dark even if it was from my back porch to my backstop.

I’ve had surveys done at my last two houses. The reason was work being done on the property that required it. Don’t need a reason or have to notify anyone, but it’s courteous to do. I just let neighbors know it’s for work being done and not a line in the sand. I need to do one one my property up north as I’m planning on building at some point and I’ve already talked to my neighbor. Once I get it scheduled I’ll remind him again just in case he sees people walking around the woods.

I can see how a surveyor might need to walk a bit in on an adjacent property to measure and mark the lines, but it I don’t know why they would need to be parked in your driveway. That seems odd.

I've had utility trucks park in my driveway while working on services for neighbors. But, that's fine. It didn't hurt me at all, and they were directly working on their power poles, and all at the very end of the driveway (where there is no reasonable parking on the road without dropping a lane on a gentle corner).

And it turns out that I can hop over to another neighbor's driveway if I needed to get in our out.

1 - I'm not certain why you state he and I get along so famously?

2 - Yes, I have had "one on one" conversations with Muhammad, but for the most part I find him more than reasonable and long story short, this is his forum, like it or not, and we really don't have "rights" here.

Honestly, for what I have to pay to be a member here, I'm a little peeved by it.

To the OP, apologies for getting off track...
Sorry, did I hear my name? 🫡

My night vision isn't top dollar, but it works pretty well IMO.

That said, I'm lucky, we have the best sledding hill in area for when it snows right behind the house, kind of a natural valley as even a bigger hill on the other side, so I'm basically shooting straight into the ground at a downward angle in a wide open area pretty directly under the outside light in the back right off the back porch, and you can pretty much anything if it's under the light at night.

We're going to be moving and downsizing big time, and the wife doesn't understand why I'm having a hard time letting the place the go LOL
