There is a turn screw just visible in the upper portion of this picture that is situated on the surge relief valve of this 750 JD. Does anyone know how this screw regulates and what effects on the overall hydraulic system it may possibly have ?

If it's the one I'm thinking about it's a rate of drop screw for the 3pt hitch.

Jim, the drop is controlled by the stop valve or the thing that looks like a spigot handle. What I am talking about is the set screw on the surge relief valve. They may very well do the same thing but I do not know.

It may be better if this question is moved to "hydraulics"

Might also help if you would point to the particular "just visible" screw in question. Not clear from the pic or the description. ;)

Ok, let's have at it again. At the top of the picture there is the red knob visible of the shifter. To the left of the shifter knob, about 2.5" ( two dimensionally speaking) and at 8 o:clock is the slotted screw I am referring to. It resides on the surge relief valve. Don't know how to graphically put an arrow in there.

That screw controls the amount of hyd psi applied to hyd functions such as 3pt or scv's.

Thanks. This the one at the red arrow?

Jim, is this surge relief valve pressure increase only apply to the 3 pt and remotes?
I just put shims in to the main relief valve which to my understanding increases pressure all around.

That's it. How is the arrow put in there?

Massaged your pic with a Photo shop program. "Paint" will do the same I'm sure.

With a handle "Arrow", then you better learn that technique. Hehehe

You would think. My photo jobby has no provision for drawing on the photo except to enhance effects. (Apple)

IIRC that valve controls system pressure.

Be careful or you may split the hyd pump
