Massey Fergusson 2300
Good afternoon, I have a Massey Ferguson 2300 with leaking hydraulic controls. My local dealer tells me repair/rebuild parts/kits are not available, but he'll be very happy to sell me a new one for $675.00 plus shipping of course. The controls are made by Nimco. Does anyone know where I can get the parts to at least repair the leaks so I can keep my shoes dry? Thanks for your help. Cheers Sam

I can't look right now, but I think kubota B7800 might use that valve. You should only need 2 o rings or 2 seals. Might be able to get them at a bearing and seal place if you have one where you live. The bad thing about going that route is it has to come apart first and take the parts to them so they can match.

Gentlemen, thank you both very much. I like the prices on the valves J.J. listed and I'll make them plan B. I have a Motion Industries branch office nearby so I'll take it apart and let them find what I need. Either way I'm much better off than dealing with the MF dealer. I can't wait to take another bath in hydraulic fluid. I always take lots of pictures as I dis-assemble something so I can get it back together again and have it work properly so I think I'll put all but the camera lens in a plastic bag. Cheers Sam

You night consider this.

If the spools are leaking , it is probably from the spool and valve body wear.

Those valves that have o-rings, the purpose is to keep dirt out not seal high pressure.

You also can not replace a new spool in an old valve and hope things will work fine. Spools are a precision fit and selected for that particular valve body to give an acceptable leak free valve.

There is a drops per minute rate that manufacturers use to give valves a go/nogo while under warranty.

Thanks J_J, but I need to ask what is the spool? Are they the pistons that move in and out when you move the control lever or are they something else? The tractor is 8 years old and has been covered most of it's life with a car cover and the boot on the control valve has been intact until very recently. There is rust on the outer rings of the pistons but other than that they appear to be clean. I plan to replace the boot with a new one after I resolve the leaks. But, as always, solve the real problem first then make it pretty. Cheers

The spool is the shiny round spool that moves in and out of the valve to route the fluid to the cyl or hyd motors. .

Great answer, pictures work wonders for preparation. It's supposed to rain most of this week so I'll put the tractor in the garage and take the valve apart and repair it so I can cut grass when the sun is shining instead of fixing the leak. Thanks again.
