I do not see any concerns with the brands you originally posted. Just go with the best dealer support. Not sure if Yanmar is also an option in your area but I am loving my Yanmar YT359. The I-HMT transmission is just a pure joy to use without double pedal or treadle pedal annoyances.

Would prefer a very good condition used to ANYTHING that requires DEF.
Put putting and DEF don't go hand in hand

DEF is only a factor for machines 75+ hp.

Spring is usually the high season for tractor sales. I would think that winter is a dead season.

I think he meant to say DPF. As you say, Big diesels use DEF or Diesel Exhaust fluid.

But he is right about DPF engines not supposed to run by"put-putting" like the vintage small diesels did. Although maybe they will, I don't believe we have heard from anyone trying it yet.

Probably correct. I will say I’ve had periods when I’m doing loader work moving gravel where I ran for an hour at lower RPMs. My next regeneration occurred at around 30 hours instead of the usual 50 hours. Other than this, there isn’t any other outcome from occasionally running at lower RPMs. I do run at 540 speed when using pto implements.

That's a dandy. Sure looks like a keeper. Our M59 has an earlier version of that same engine. It has been flawless.

That's the same tranny that we have. It's just remarkable. All the advantages of an tunable HST along with fingertip powershifting between high and low in each of the 3 ranges...total of six speeds forward and reverse.

I’m on year 6 of owning 20 acres. Ive relied on farmers to plant my food plots and I’d like to end my lease and start doing this myself. I also started a tree farm and will need a tractor for that part. FEL work and Disk ground work will be main functions. My options nearby are:

-John Deere and kubota both have good dealers but are significantly more expensive.

-Massey Ferguson dealer 30 min away

-KIOTI and New Holland dealer 20 min away.

-CaseIH 20 min away

Are any of these brands better than the others and why? Price is a factor. I don’t have unlimited funds, unfortunately.

I have a Farmall 50A gear utility tractor with shuttle shift, press the clutch, tap the brake, pause and shift. I use the snot out of it because it is a little power house and always handy. I even use it to feed cows with a big round bale on each end and leave the cab tractor in the barn. I enjoy the open station and watching the little ones discover the world. It is probably more tractor than you really need for food plots but there you have it. Great little tractor but pretty pricey now days.

How unlimited? $30K is a lot if you shop around and look for something without a bunch of crap on it and a whole lot if you look for good used. A tractor needs very little to do the job and simple makes one much more dependable. Old tractors were built to last a lifetime. New ones, not nearly so. They are disposable with planned obsolescence.

Up until the days of big bales hardly anyone had a loader. If you couldn't do it on the 3 point you didn't. A carry-all did a lot of stuff. I have an old '82 model 20 hp JD 750 with a Westendorf loader that will do anything I can think of on 20 acres. Look for something like that but maybe an 850 or 950 that has been well cared for. They are around. I have my first JD 820 from '72. It still runs the wood chipper and a few other things. Dad tried to destroy it but failed so I still have it.

Loaders usually are glorified wheelbarrows. Unless you have a lot of bulk to move you don't really need one. I should talk though, I have several and one brand new that I bought with one of the big tractors that I took off and it still sits in the barn.

Make sure to consider if parts or service will be available in 5 or 10 years. 15 years ago I did a little looking at some of the "off brands". Now, they are long gone and parts, even filters, can be hard to find.

Kubota, Deere, NH, etc. will likely either still be here or will have enough customer base for some third party to provide parts.

There has been concern in the ag community regarding Deere building their machines so that only Deere dealers can work on them. Can't do your own maintenance either. Bad news IMO. There are several competing Kubota dealers around here, but only one Deere dealer (AgPro) and they have been expensive and problematic. YMMV.

Most are, I would never be able to get by with a ag type tractor or loader
