Thought I would show a subsoiler and middle buster combination I build about a year ago. I really put it to the test this past weekend. My welding isn't very nice looking but it sure is strong LOL. I built it a bit longer than the ones at TSC to dig ditches and things of that nature. And, I got the steel out of a salvage yard, and from a dealer who gives me a good price on steel. It is strong enough to stop the tractor.

I don't know, it looks pretty slick to me. How long did it take to make?

Actually I spent about a week, working off and on. Gathering the materials took longer than anything else. I found the angle in a junk yard, and the rest I bought from a good friend, that owns a metal shop.
The side arms I used a torch to heat and bend to make the correct angles. The top part I welded several blocks together to space it out so the top link would fit properly. I drilled the holes by hand. You just have to be careful to get things measured to the proper lengths.
To get the angle at the foot I took one of those folding angle tools to TSC and several other places and got the angles which I drew on to paper. And then I just cut the pieces and welded them to the beam.
Actually I thought about putting a small piece of angle with a piece of round rod behind it for support on the front side to slice through the dirt easier.
One could also put a piece on the back side to lay down line as well.
I don't use it often but when I need to, it sure comes in handy. Like this weekend when we dug a trench to lay a water line. If you decide to build one have fun. Enclosed is a picture after I used it and washed if down.

Thanks for posting your project. Looks like you did a good job.
I've never seen one being used. Do you have any pics of it in use?

Sorry, Tig, I only have those taken with my phone. So, I don't have any in operation. Should have had my son in law take one when we were doing the water line project, with my camera. I just send them to my email and then put them in a folder and upload from there.
