Subsoiler from Ebay?

I've never used a subsoiler, but I'd like to get one to bury some tubing and electrical cables. What do you think of this one I see on Ebay? Too many tools in one? Also, I can't tell how deep it would go. Frost isn't a concern.

I don't like that at all....You might want to check Tractor Supply or on line at Agri Supply to see what a real subsoiler looks like...that mounted on a drawbar is not right to me....I don't see it holding up. Look at some others and you will see what I mean...It is too much too at $165.00....See what others say ...that is my :2cents:

I agree. That thing looks cobbled together. The farm stores here sell real subsoilers for $200, and they go on sale for $160 once in a while. I got my Rankin SS for $100 on craigslist, so if you have time, you can get a good deal or pay what that ebay unit costs after shipping if you have local dealers. Good luck!

That tubing is probably 1/4 in thick. It won't hold up, will get "torn" if you sink the subsoiler deep and bring out roots. It MIGHT work in sand but nothing heavy duty at all. It will tear out the notch in the tubing and then your subsoiler and reciever hitch feature will both be broken.

I think Agri Supply has a regular made subsoiler for 150-160 bucks...a real subsoiler.

I bought my middle buster at Tractor Supply, and they have the Subsoiler for around $130 new. They redesigned them and strengthened them, so the don,t have the breakage issues earlier models had. This is my middle buster, and it is essentially the same design, but the sub soiler has a longer shaft, and the ripper blade.

Agree with all the above comments there much better units out there than this one. I have been in the sub soiler market as well. I have not narrowed it down yet.

Those of you with sub soilers did you find you had to get a shorter top link arm in order to keep the blade vertical?

That shouldn't be an issue, because when it is in the ground, it should be at the same level as most implements, and the subsoiler frame should be vertical with the toplink attachment at the top. I am very happy with the middle buster by Country Line, and I have accidentally pulled small boulders out of the ground, and I have not harmed it. I was going to buy a separate subsoiler, as I needed to lay electrical line to my barn, however I just opted to order the subsoiler blade, and with a bit of modification, it fit my middle buster well. I just did't have the same depth as a true sub soiler.
