I have heard that a tiller can create a "hard pan" at the depth of its reach. I was digging some potatoes with a heavy pitchfork and was surprised how firm that base was the 6-8" below the surface. I'm going to weld up a single tooth to attach to the 3ph on the 2660. I know it won't be able to pull much before loosing traction, being a BX, but want to give this a try. It is good loamy soil and not to boney. Any idea who makes the best "tooth or spike" for this. All ideas welcome. Much obliged!

Be sure to subsoil when the ground is dry--it "shatters" better.
Also, you don't need to rip down to China. Just below the hardpan is all you need.
