Sturdy trailer fender?

This pic might give some of the information you want. They are welded on and made of 1/8" checkerplate. I've added an angle brace on the driver's side in the centre between the wheels so that I can stand on it without any bending and plan to add another to the other side it works so well. Sorry, I can't take better pics right now as the trailer is under 3' of snow.

Not2old - thanks for that. I like the setup. What did you do for a brace? I'm thinking a gusset of the same diamond plate material would work for that.
