I stopped reading after the recommendation for fram filters.

So, going to Rockauto.com let's look at that PH3985 and see how well of a cross reference we get With all the details above, the FRAM is a no-no because the micron rating is too fine and the flow will be much slower in the engine. The engine will starve for oil circulation.

Yeah i dont think it works like that. What if the filter gets plugged? Bypas exists so no possibilty of "starvation"

Did you continue reading and see the entire report then? The Fram was a no-go and the Wix premium brand called Pro-Tech won on the point you make mention.

Go back and check.

I guess my brain is a bit slow today. I'm on https://www.oilfilter-crossreference.com/convert/NEW-HOLLAND/84475542 and there isn't a big choice. If I choose the Fram, I get many different filters. Why dont they come up when I search The NH part number?

This is same filter my New Holland uses. Wix 51348 is filter I use instead
. If you go to the Wix website and cross your number it will list this filter.

for the generators i service, i order 90 filters at a time thru Generac. i get them cheaper than i could get a fram filter for. and since there factory specs, i never have any warranty issues. i also order spark plugs 100 at a time. and air filters 100 at a time. great savings.

but i cant do this for my tractor or other engines at my place. so i order a few years supply and keep them in separate clear plastic totes labeled for each vehicle. its nice to always have the parts handy.

I play with the filter numbers and then go back to Rockauto.com and verify the findings for accuracy and the [INFO] icon on the listing for full filter details. See my earlier posting on how to do just that.

I have figured a work around for that.
I exist in a continual state of offended outrage.
After a while I get used to it and nothing gets to me.
