Stump Bucket

Thanks TSO I thought I had seen one like it before.

I think your post shows I should pass, and find one thats a better design.

I am looking for a stump bucket also, I have a few 16" stumps to remove but mostly small trees and lots of thorn bushes and some concrete to pop out and remove. Do you think my R4041H can handle any of the following?

Stump Bucket for Skid Steers | Blue Diamond Attachments

Loflin Fabrication

They all look heavy and well built , what do you guys think? If I take it easy and cut & dig the roots can my loader handle it? Thanks

I think the issue you will have is with the overall length. All 4 of the buckets you shared are quite long, and I think with the inadequate curl feature the LS is semi-famous for will be nothing but a headache with a bucket thats 5' in length.

The one I linked above, while it doesnt have as much 'ripping' teeth on it, is only about 40" long and 16" wide at the tip. I think that is a better size ration for a tractor in our range....

it just feels to me that the system goes into relief way too quickly ... I wonder if the curl relief could be adjusted. Another thing that might help would be moving the curl cylinder pins higher up on the QA plate, I've been debating that for awhile.

As for the bucket, after putting HOURS into using that one, I truly think that something around 40" long or less, with about 6" of width or less at the bottom, would be much more practical on this machine.

I've got the Wildkat Stump Grapple, and I think I agree with you. I'm using mine on my Kioti DK50, but there's not much difference between it and your tractor. I think these stump buckets work a lot better on skid steers, which have the power and hydraulic capacity to put them to full use.

I like mine ok, but mainly because of the grapple function. I quickly figured out that digging out hundreds of cedars with it was going to be way too long of a process and would possibly damage my FEL. Rather than tear up a $5,000 FEL, I bought a Kubota BX23 so I could use a backhoe on the ones I can't push over. It's still a long process but not as long as using the stump grapple only, and it's way less stressful on the FEL.

One of the huge differences in using the backhoe vs the stump bucket is being able to see what you're doing with the backhoe. Same thing holds true on using the stump bucket on a skid steer vs. on a tractor. Besides having more power, you can see what the stump bucket is doing on the skid steer.

So you are using the Skid Steer Stump Bucket | Spartan Equipment. ? Have you seen a shorter bucket (40") with a narrow tip (12" or less) anywhere? I am a newbie and I sure appreciate all the great info & advice I get from you guys. As a fellow Michigander I can really relate to your experiences.
