Storing implements for the winter.

/ Storing implements for the winter. #11
I just sprayed Fluid Film on the surfaces the paint has worn off of, and did a fresh grease job, and went around trying to tighten the wheel bolts (I was probably only applying around 50-70 foot pounds and didn't bother using a torque wrench, but would have brought the torque wrench out to check them all if I felt any of them shift). I washed the machine, too. I think of this as my winterizing, though my machine lives in a barn, and I use it in winter for snow.

I still have to put my urethane edge on the bucket, but am waiting until snow is closer to do that small job. I still may need to move some dirt first.

Everything gets put into the tractor house except for the rear blade and front bucket. BH, mower, PHD, and box blade are inside, and the tractor....

Tractor goes into the barn. Implements are under a steel carport.

Here's where my cutter lives year around when not in use. Shaft is removed and stored on top of the cutter.

Tractor is in the shed as well as flail and tiller. Forks, brush hog, carryall outdoors, sitting on timbers off the ground. Chipper absolutely stays in the shed when not in use.

Everything that won't fit in the garages go onto to pallets and tarped.
Piece of treated wood to keep tarps from touching implements.
Some oil and grease as needed before covering.

Power wash all equipment to be stored. Lubricate all zerk fittings. Sharpen any blades. Remove all dirt and debris under Bush Hogs, Buckets etc.
Drain All gasoline and run engine dry. Drain Float Bowl. Remove battery cables and clean the terminals. Charge Batteries fully.
Mesh bags of Mothballs will deter mice from wiring on small equipment. Shove small mesh chickenwire in access holes. Change Oil, oil filter and Air Filter if applicable. Air up all tires and block frames so if a tire goes down over Winter it is not ruined. Spray paint rusted areas. I spray used oil on the underside of mower decks and rototiller tines.
