Stopped Up Injection Pump

I have a 2810 Ford with a CAV injection pump. Fuel comes out of the bleeding screw on the pump but none comes out of the lines to the injectors. After a lot of reading I suspect that the metering valve is stuck. I tried tapping on the housing while the throttle was wide open but it didn't help. I'm going to try some compressed air to see if it opens things up. Does anybody know which line I should blow through. The one on the end pointing up or the one on the side.

If that doesn't work I'm going to take the top off and clean the metering valve. Can I get to the metering valve by just taking the top off with the pump still on the tractor or will I have to remove the pump?

When you start to pull the cover up the throttle shaft is attached to the tomb stone in the lower housing with a spring and some other small parts that will go flying if you are not careful. The spring goes into one of a series of holes depending on the pump application. You need to see what position everything is in before it flys apart. Here is a picture attached as a .doc file.

Will that is a great thread segment - I wish I saw that before I did the seals on my pump.
I thought it was pretty traumatic working on an open pump mounted on the engine. Not a very pristine enviroment at all. If you open yours up Danny make sure everything is clean. Be peranoid about it.

Thanks for the link Willl. Those are some good pics. Is that the metering valve in the last pic to the far right with a round head that is attached to a long bolt with a spring around it?

I've already blown the area with compressed air but I'll make sure I clean the area with a solvent before opening.
