???? Stihl ????

Just picked up this brush cutter, owner had in his shed, said he has never used and was his dad's, his best guess was that it was purchased in early 70's.

I have been all over the net and cannot find any info on it, the only # I have found seems to be a ser# 2253925, this has produced zilch so far.

It's a beast of a cutter and did get running pouring gas in carb, I have carb off now cleaning but may need some addtl parts.

Any info or sites that may have the info I need would be appreciated

It is a STIHL FS 08 which used the STIHL 08S or 08 powerhead. The power head was first built in the mid 1960's and it is likely that your Brushcutter/clearing saw was available shortly after that date. Most are well used, finding a dusty cherry is always fantastic. I just reviewed some early literature in my collection which is 1970 vintage. The FS 08 was listed in that.

Yes it is cherry, has excellent compression, the only issues are from sitting so long, the fuel line & grommet fell apart when re-installing carb.

Can't locate one but should be able to match 13/16" tank hole with another brand.
