Stihl Dealers

I'm looking for a Stihl dealer, seems the local one's have no idea what they are selling, I wanted to order items for brush cutter, I was told they won't fit, owners manual show it will fit, Long story short I'm looking for a dealer that knows what his is selling. Any susgestions, mail order is fine.

Sorry that you are having problems. Around here, the timber industry is king, and Stihl is the number one saw. Here's a link to the two dealers that I use:

I have 4 dealers within 45mins one way now. Newest one JD dealership. Just testing them out now for parts ordering only so far. Closest one before JD was worthless, no clue as you say.
30min away one was great, 45min one away is great. Use the dealer finder to see how many are around you.

If you are in western, PA I would try D & G rentals they have done good by me....

Here are some dealers in PA that I have delt with that know the products inside and out:

Penn Holo; Skippack.
Wes Stauffer: Ephrata
Kramers: Pine Grove (Schuylkill county)
JB Zimmerman: New Holland
Brandywine hardware: West Chester (I think)
Messicks; Elizabethtown (they have other locations, but I've only been to Etown)
Dottergers; Potters Mills (outside State College)(They are now Walker and Walker, and I've never delt with them under that name.
B&R Farm Equipment Milroy.

Not saying others are bad, these are ones that have given me really good service.

I like to look at what kind of saws they have for sale when I go into a Stihl dealer. If the top of their line is an MS391 or smaller I head elsewhere. My experience has been that the shops that sell the Pro saws generally know a lot more about their products than those who only sell the homeowner and mid-grade stuff.

And i've always found tractor dealerships to be less knowledgeable than actual "SAW" dealers when it comes to saws . all they want to do is sell !

I am not a stihl dealer but I do sell Dolmar and I don't tend to stock the bigger saws because I don't have enough demand for them. I have a stihl MS361 that was traded in a year ago and it is still sitting on the shelf waiting for somebody to buy it. 99 percent of my customer base isn't interested in large saws and some of the stihl dealers may be in the same boat.

That is simply a trend I have noticed, by no means a rule. There's one old saw/mower shop down in NC I frequent that is a real dump by any description (saws and mowers everywhere, general disarray.) They sell Stihl and Echo saws, and generally not many big ones. BUT, those ol boys know their stuff. They have been in business for decades and do a great job on repair work and are excellent at sharpening chains. In fact they are one of the very few places I'll take chains for sharpening. Like I said, there are exceptions.

Now, when I'm looking to buy a saw there is a dealer I go to that is the complete opposite. Very clean modern facilities, huge stock of saws (up to MS660), lots of parts and accessories in stock. I've dealt with them a lot and they always give me a great deal on everything. I suppose they sell a lot of volume and can offer better prices than the little guys.

it's funny you say that as I am currently in the market for a 70cc pro saw. the 361, while one of Stihl's all-time best sellers, is sort of an odd ball to me. it's too small to be considered a "large saw" and too small to be considered a "big saw". i currently have a MS260 pro that i use for just about everything other then felling, hence the reason i'm looking for a 70cc or perhaps larger saw. i'm surprised you're having trouble selling that 361 as they are hot around here! my local Stihl dealer has a 441 and a 460 currently, but I'm also shopping Dolmar and Husky.
