I would think a lever and strong spring would give you an automatic adjustment. You set the correct spring tension when hot. Manufacture probably suggested a min deflection in the middle of the blade with a set weight . For example, Something like a 1/2 in deflection with a 5 lb weight. Adjust the spring to get the deflection with that weight.
