Thanks for the kind words everyone!

Rustyiron,

Your last sentence is the key here; very low humidity in this area. My builder said aside from being well insulated it will be very quite.

The builder told us they are going to dry it in Wednesday. It would be nice, a storm is expected to start sometime tomorrow and last till Sunday. Saturday and Sunday are supposed to be snow. We have had very good (dry) weather for a long time, it had to end sooner or later.

Simply amazed at your progress and the caliber of work from your subs...

Often a very hard thing to do as an outsider in a new State...

This is the main reason I did not general the house myself. So far I think everyone really has cared about making my wife and I happy.

Fantastic progress, Lynn. Looking good.

Best I have learned is closed cell foam is R-6.5 per inch. Your 4" of blow in will create R-13. So you'll end up with R-26 in your walls.

Moving north to ME I went "****" insulating. Money well spent, esp in your forever home years. Between property taxes and staying warm, even with no note on your place you never really own it, ever.

Great progress, praying the weather holds off until you are closed in. When we built our house, we were putting shingles on first week of Nov, with hard freezing at night, light snow at times.

Smart move. Good GCs have good subcontractors that move from one project to the next with them. Less risky for the GC and the sub if every trade knows what to expect of the next.

Ain't that the sad truth. :mur:

One only need stop paying taxes and you'll find out real quick who really owns it.

I am in the same county and it took us months to find a suitable place for drain field (35-40 test holes). The inspector was on a power trip and told us where we could build on 40 acres. We found out that he had been let go in King county and was a piece of work. We were finally approved for surface drain field, 600' of drain line (6x100'). It was to be 12" deep, 4" of drain rock, 4" pipe, 4" of drain rock covering. After completion, we were to cover it all with 8-12" of top soil. We have to pump up to the d box. For final inspection, they sent out a kitchen inspector, my wife had to show him what we had and help him take measurements so he could sketch the "as built" diagram... We have green grass for first 10' or so of drainfield.

Interesting-I installed infiltrators with nothing special in terms of infill or cover only minimum and maximum depth of trench. Dug about 8 evaluation trenches over about 4 of my 30+ acres-was a bit concerned as we were right on the edge of ‘acceptable’ soil type for the desired soil loading and a gravity only system.
