starter will not stop running when you turn the key on

Start by replacing the key switch

Before you replace the key switch try to put a couple drops of oil on the shaft where the bendix spring is first. Somtimes it get a little rust or dirt on that shaft and the spring on the bendix will not pull the starter ring gear back and it just spins on the ring gear on the fly wheel.
