Starter fried? Newer Kubota BX 2380

What usually fails on the starters is the solenoid. The contacts weld themselves together over time and cause the starter to fail.

The Kubota BX I owned several years ago was self bleeding. When I added a remote filter I drained the fuel lines several times messing with it and took a little longer to start but not much. Just cycling the key a couple of times without trying to start it is enough.
One of the first upgrades I did to both my M9's was a ditched the Kubota fuel bowl entirely and added a Racor spin on 5 micron clear bottom bowl fuel filter that sepeartes out any water or crud in the fuel and the soin on filters are easily replaceable plus the ones I purchased have built in fuel heaters in them for cold weather use. Mounted them where I could easily view them on the loader upright.

Upon closer inspection the bendix was still engaged to the flywheel. It was easy enough to retract with a couple of taps, but still nothing but a click on trying to start. Meter shows a voltage drop which I interpret as load from a burned out starter motor?

Def gonna take it to a shop, but the $95 ebay replacement is also on the way as a temp/ spare.

Thanks everyone. I’m just a curious amateur so let me know if I’m off track

I ordered a new (cheap) unit but I think it comes with the solenoid and all judging from the photo. Gonna also check on rebuilding the OEM starter

I've always thought replacing the starter is a pretty manageable job which would be less work than hauling to the dealer unless your having the dealer come get it.
