A six foot boom, you say?

Like this?

"Give me a long enough lever and I'll up-end the PT."

Who was it that said those famous words? /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Actually, that boom can be useful beyond lifting the PT. It is 2 inch tube, braced. The grapple we built for it is only one use. That is done with trailer springs for teeth, which are cheap but strong. For those building root rake grapples, they might be something to keep in mind. They already have pivot eyes, and you can probably get them at a junkyard for a dollar.

The Hiller looks like it could work. It's kind of like the edger from PT isn't it?

A square tube arm angled down like they have it.

Yes, it is like PT's. I was looking to get more use out of the PT trailer hitch that I bought. I also wanted to scale down the size of the disc, since PT's is quite large at 18".

That's what I was thinking, too..... patterning it after PT's model, but adapting it to my recceiver, and using a smaller disc.

I will order a 14" disc, and then take some measurements to position the disc a few inches outboard of front wheel.

I still don't know if I should camber the disc or keep it vertical

To camber or not. Why not do both. If you are going to use 2x2x1/4 steel tubing, just add another piece of tubing with an adjusting nut in between to give you vertical or any camber you desire. The 12 inch tubing with the hub would hinge off the long boom.

Drawing for edger.

It looked good in my cad program, but maybe you can get the idea.

Looks like you would need to slot the bottom of the 2" tube so that as you adjust the agnle out, it will not bind?
