Started my welding class am looking for a project

J.J. Did you build this one from plans or scratch?

Is it a kit offered from someone? I think I would like to do something like this in the future, but a kit would make it easier with my limited number of tools in the shop.

I built the grapple from plans, and laser cut parts. All you have to do is to weld the parts together. It is designed for a 4 inch, 1/4 inch wall box tube. I have e-mailed the guy and will let you know if the plans and kit are still available.

That sounds like it would be an interesting project for sure. I'll be finishing my trailer hitch this weekend and may make another plate or two if I have time.

I purchased a new Lincoln 175 mig welder from Ebay at a very good price. There are deals to be had if you do some intelligent shopping. Take note of the shipping. Check your local dealer, you may come across some demo models. I always check their mark down tables for good deals. Lincoln, Miller. Esab, are about the best. You can get the cheaper brands for less, but I would advise against it. Good Luck.

SOmeone is going to give me a Lincoln 225 AC stick welder. I only will be able to use certain rods, but free is very cool! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
