I have a homemade chicken plucker that I built a few years ago I used a Marathon 3/4 hp farm duty motor from Tractor Supply. While moving firewood last winter the motor got hit and the start capacitor came off. There are 2 black wires from the motor, one is brass colored the other is silver. The brass terminal has J9 on the wire and the silver has T5. I see this on the wire diagram I have but I do not know if it makes a difference what side goes on where. There are 2 sides so does it matter what side they are on. I know they need to go on separate terminals

Doesn't matter, wire markers are basically where they come from.

That is what I was thinking but I was not sure on that. I just expected that there was a specific way the wires had to go on.
Thanks

Those capacitors are non-polarized and are being used for A/C current, so it doesn't matter.

Does not matter. If the capacitor is damaged, install a new cap with a voltage rating as high or higher than the original. The microfarad rating can also be increased, this will improve starting torque.

Thanks guys! It has no problem starting so If I broke the capacitor I'll get a replacement.

It looks like that one may be leaking out oil any way, good reason the replace. They are not really made to get; the metal ring holding the case on is thin and rusts quickly.
