Starlink

Starlink mini now available - It's a mobile downsized dishy, has anybody tried it?
I'm thinking about ordering it and cancelling my SL RV service. Since they upped the RV price to $150/mo I can make up the difference pretty quickly, even considering the $600 for equipment.

Yes but I only use my SL RV for camping trips. I think I could do 50G and I believe its something like $1 for each extra gig?

At $30/mo versus $150/mo I recoup the purchase price in 5 months. I will probably put my RV system as "dormant" while I try out the mini.

The only internet service I have out here is HughesNet. A week ago I had my system upgraded to Phoenix. Upload and download are definitely better/faster. It's not fiberoptics but it definitely does everything I need.

Even though i swore i wouldnt get starlink as my microwave unit was giving me enough download speed….. the trees finally matured enough to start blocking my internet reception.

I went to the dark side and i installed the new gen3 starlink.

Install took about 2 hours, due to running wires. Works great. I get over 180 down and 17 up. On average. I chose eve mount, and 100% unobstructed view of sky. If there are outages, i have not noticed.

But i wanted a guest network and a IoT network separate from my main network. So after about 2 days of messing around, i was finally able to disable starlink wifi and pass it thru to my 3 month old modem. Took alot of geek speek to get it all working, but its working great now. Had to reconfigure shop wifi extension and my wavelink antenna to reach other buildings and barn for my wifi calling that i need for my remote area.

I only wish elons modem had options for a guest network.
