The more I look into this, the more confusing it is.

My 1983 B6100E Kubota´s rear PTO shaft rotates CW as viewed from the rear of the tractor? It is 1 3/8" diameter with 6 splines and turns 514, 870 and 1498 RPM at 2800 RPM engine rotation

It has never been used but, if I should want to, is this a standard PTO that will work with most implements? It seems like I often hear that this model's PTO rotates in reverse from standard.

Usually, PTO discussions refer to a rotation direction but are not clear as to the viewing direction. Wikipedia says CCW as viewed from the tractor and I take this as CW as viewed from the rear of the tractor. If this is correct, then most implements want to be rotated CCW as viewed from their PTO input.

Help clear this up for me.

CW as you are looking at it standing behind the tractor. The Kubota B6100 functions as normal. If memory serves me, the B6000 which was introduced to the USA in 1974 had the pto that turned CCW that I believe was a carry over from the Asian market. It is very hard to find equipment that works on them. I also think that there is some kind of "reverser" available for that reason. But that does not apply to you. The B6100 which was produced starting 4 years later in 1978 has the normal 1 3/8" 6 spline shaft that turns CW.

Couple of Achers,

Thank you for that information. It makes me feel better knowing that my B6100E's PTO is standard. I have wanted confirmation of this for a long time.

No problem. Welcome by the way. You will quickly learn, as I did, that there is a tremendous wealth of information on this site. I had been lurking on this site for years benefiting from the information that I was able to acquire. So now that I have joined, I am always glad that I am able to help out others from time to time. That's the beauty of this site. Information sharing and stealing, I mean "borrowing" ideas from others.

By the way, the B6100 is a cool little tractor. I'm a big fan of the early Kubota's. I've had a number of them over the years including a '78 B6100DT. Which is just the 4WD model of yours. I'm kind of wishing I wouldn't have sold it. But there's always more of them out there.

Couple of Achers,

Thanks for the welcome.

I really like my B6100E. I purchased it new in 1983 and have tried to take good care of it. It is mainly used as a horse to pull a small utility trailor around the yard at leaf raking time and for other light jobs. My garden is very small and just when the plow starts digging deep enough, the tractor is coming out the other side. And it only gets plowed once a year.

I have never had a bit of trouble with it, except for replacing batteries, new fuel caps, oil filters, and seat cover, over the last 26 years. Last week, I installed the Kubota ROPS and will probably add lights to it later.

A paint problem recently appeared and that was due to the shed roof leaking and water laying on the hood and fender. That concern will appear in another thread.

Thanks again for your help.
