spring shackles

does anyone know if the shackles that connect spring equalizer to springs can be either over or under springs? they are now over and i wanted to move them under to gain a few inches of height so my tires dont rub. i am hauling a little more than my trailer wants lately.

The shackles are supposed to be over the equalizers (see pic). However, you can buy a different style equalizer to in effect raise the trailer height (see equalizer pic style B instead of C). Etrailer.com has these equalizers. Give the a call and talk with them about what you are trying to do. If you relocate the shackles to under, after the first few bumps you hit they'll be back on top anyway. I think replacing the equalizer with a taller one would be the way to go.

Equalizer shape can change height, too. Or moving the axle from over the springs to under.
