Hey guys,

I'm new here and this is my first post. I own and manage about 4000 acres of land south of Houston,Texas. I have a M7040 that I use for maintenance and small projects. I have a Polaris Ranger that I use as well. I build a spray rig for the ranger that has a 100 gallon tank on a pallet in the bed. I use this for spot spraying mainly. I want to build a spray boom that is about 8 ft long that can attach to my current tank. This will be for spraying food plots and other small areas. I was thinking about using PVC pipe and a quick disconnect so I can change from the spray gun to the bar. Does anyone have any recommendations for what I want to do?

Thanks,

John

First off, Welcome aboard to forum

They are pretty easy to build and all your supplies can be purchased at any ag store such as TSC. For an 8 foot boom you would probably need about 3 maybe 4 nozzles and overall coverage would probably get you about 10 feet due to the V-shaped spray pattern. A lot of people just T into the supply line and then put a valve on the line to the boom than you can still use your wand sprayer while the boom is still on. A quick connect option after the valve might still be a consideration for you so you can take the boom off when not in use and keep it compact.

Do a search on ebay or google images for sprayer boom. It will give you a lot of different types of homemade low cost boom designs. I bought a low cost 3 nozzle spray boom off ebay for 60 bucks a few years back. If you don't find something you like you should be able to find a design that might suit you best and be able to replicate it.

pvc will work fine. Agree with super55.
Be sure to engineer it to break away with no damage if you hit a fence post or such. 4000 acres is a lot of land to keep up with. Rice? Manvel area? Rosharon? Sugarland? Needville?
Know of some peeps who switched over from rice to crawdads and apparently are doing OK.
