Split tractor = new hydraulic fluid + filter?

Hey all,

'86 Ford 1710 696 hours

New to me tractor as of this Feb. Before winter comes getting a handle on routine maintenance history, some of which we don't know completely.

We do know a new clutch was put in Jan 2010, at 650 hours. I am about to hit 700 hours. If someone was putting in a new clutch, and splitting the tractor, does that pretty much mean they likely changed hydraulic fluid and filter? Is there any way to split tractor without affecting hydraulics?

I'd like to build my hydraulic maintenance schedule off of a 650 hours start point if possible, wanted to get crowds opinion of what likely happened when new clutch went in / tractor was split.

No. The clutch is in the bell housing between the engine and the transmission which is a dry area. Don't expect any fluid change due to the clutch work.

That's correct. The clutch does not affect the hydraulic system.

I'm going against the grain here (surprise). Splitting a 1710 will require draining the hydraulics as the suction tube needs to be removed. That doesn't mean the oil was replaced or poured back in, nor does it mean that the hydraulic filter was replaced. No way of knowing.
