I spilled out about a gallon of diesel in the bed of my truck. How do I get it out of tie down straps, deer blind and bed liner?

Laundry detergent works. Just mix a 5 gal bucket of water and soap, and wash. I've rinsed with gasoline first, but the safety police will raise a stink if I recommend that as a first step.

Leave it alone. When in construction the back of our trucks would fill with dirt and diesel overspill. Every 10 years or so when we would trade one in we would completely clean out the boxes. They always look new without a spot of rust. Bedliner...diesel fuel and dirt will outperform them every time.

Hmm. . . Wash the bed liner, buy new tie-down straps, and burn the blind.;) Seriously, I don't think you will ever get the smell out of the straps and the deer blind is questionable. Most hard bedliners will wash clean. My grandson tells me that my jacket smells like a tractor. He means it smells like diesel. My precious wife sometimes scrubs and washes my jacket several times to get it it clean and I just turn around and get diesel on it the first time I fill the tank on my tractor. I keep telling her to wash it once and let it be, but she is determined to make me smell clean and fresh. I don't understand her determination, but love her for it.:)

Pro Tip #34

Don't wash it in your washing machine right before you do a load of underwear.

After washing with detergent, if you still have some diesel odor, spray with "Fabreeze" & leave outside for a while!

I always thought diesel was a nice smell ? I'd leave it alone ,it's good for the truck .

I am replying late and probably will not be of any assistance. The only thing I have found to help in removing the smell of diesel fuel is "Simple Green". I spilled some diesel fuel on a work coat one time, washed it in simple green and continued to wear the coat. I did pre-wash a couple of times (Wash let dry - Wash again) outdoors in the simple green prior to introducing to a washer.

My son loves the smell of diesel. Fortunately, the wife isn't offended by it, either. She says it smells like work being done, so it's all good! I've managed to keep most of it out of my clothing, but when I spilled an odd collection of containers in the bed of the truck (poly liner)containing chainsaw bar oil, diesel and who knows what else, I sprayed engine liberally on the offending mess and hosed it out with pretty good success. I didn't realize just how much junk had accumulated in the back of the truck until I had to remove it all to clean it.
