Agreed . I will not fool myself into believing that since this happens in one person 's area, it is happening state wide . I am fully aware that you were referencing the state of La.

In NY, with your clean record, you would go mail in a not guilty plea, they set a court date, when you get there, the prosecutor would have a printout with your history and the ticket particulars. If you have a clean record, they drop it from "speeding" to "disobeying a traffic device" or something and you pay a fine, but no points on your license.

I am 45 and got my first speeding ticket tonite - in the car talking and the speed limit went from a 65 to 45, and I blew thru doing 63 (after the Campbell Co deputy was nice enough to drop it a couple mph though)..

I can pay the ticket, but really dont want to take a 4 point hit on my license (currently have +5 points though)



Never having a ticket before what are my options beside paying it and taking the 4 point hit?

Worth it to get a lawyer and fight it? (although he caught me fair and square)

How do i get traffic school and would that keep the points of my license?

Other thoughts??

+ 1, I was preparing a similar post as my son and many of my friends risked their lives doing this daily and a few didn't make it until end of shift.

from talking to more than a couple ppl, at least here in VA quite a few localities will offer traffic school and then dismiss the ticket upon successful completion..

I need to call the locality and see what their standard policy is.. It sounds too easy to be honest..

A few ppl have said that a lawyer can do the same thing by making a few phone calls..

I have no problem paying for a ticket I deserved i.e. speeding. It is all the other ramifications that come with it.
That said, ask for deferred adjudication , if available in your court.
