Yes it has been a heady time , but they are all material things . I would trade most of them for some education of the masses on not breaking the ten comandments without a moments thought , that would really improve life on earth .

The current corporate environment having to give CEO's and shareholders immediate gratification doesn't leave much room in the budget for long term research projects. I view the stockmarket more as a big Ponzi scheme nowadays as the daytraders have lessened it to a rush to get in or out. It takes long term investment to adequately research most anything. The Japanese know this.

Yes, I'd like to see NASA and others have to work in more spartan buildings. NASA used to be a "vehicle" for the nations brightest to exploit their talents. I hope it still is. I'd like to know how much gets spent at university level research?

So are you saying that if we disagree with the amount of money spent by NASA we are "without understanding"? I'm just curious, as that seems implicit in your remarks.

There will always be people who will take a different side to any subject. I have seen bashing on this board myself.

The thing is, nobody on this good earth can tally up all the good benefits that have roots from NASA. GPS, freeze dried food, whatever. So, in my humble opinion, if they are bashing, hopefully they are bashing about waste and mismanagement and not being shortsighted and unknowledgeable.

I'm putting on my Nomex overalls.

PS. I have 1st hand experience with the proverbial "$10,000 hammer" and NASA.
