I need 3 hole posts and rails. Does anyone know a good source? I'm west of Chicago about 40 miles and have a truck and trailer I could use to pick it up, so anywhere within a hundred miles or so would probably be reasonable if the price is right.
thanks

I was looking to buy fencing this spring and was going to try
Hoover Enterprises, Inc. dba
HOOVER FENCE CO.
5531 McClintocksburg Rd.
Newton Falls, Ohio 44444

Their prices looked reasonable, but the price of shipping is substantial. Can you let me know what you decide

Thanks Ron

Mark,

I had many projects last year moving into a new house, something had to give so I hired out the fence. I used Northern Illinois Fence in Sycamore to do about 3/4 acre in 3 rail split cedar. 3 gates, lined with steel wire. Once they showed up I think they did a great job. I think they also go by Fence sales of Sycamore. Here is their website. Fence Sales

The supplier with the broadest range of fencing and supplies is www.kencove.com however they are in PA and probably too far from you.

Mark, My ranch is covered with cedar(juniper) that is used for fencing around a lot of Texas. Bring your toys and come visit your welcome to a pickup load all ya gots to do is go back in the hills and fire up a chain saw. When we bought the ranch in 1999 I had a deal worked out with a cedar yard, they got the post and I got some cleared land, roads, fencing and a dam for a new lake. They had 12 to 20 guys on the ranch 24/7 for 2 years straight working with chain saws and every other day or so an 18 wheeler would leave the ranch with a load. No money ever changed hands and I still have 60% cedar coverage on the ranch. After the cedar yard left we had an estimate from them of the net worth of the cedar removed and figured it was somewhere around $100,000 wholesale and over $200,000 retail. I did get a pretty nice dam out of the deal and the roads are nice but the nicest thing is people can actually walk upright around the ranch whereas when we bought it, it took 12 hours to walk (crawl) the perimeter fence much less the interior.

Steve,
Sounds like fun. Maybe in 20 years when I get done with all the projects around here I'll have time to do something like that. Oh wait, in 20 years I'll probably be dead. Darn, life's just too short.

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll check out the place in Sycamore. The best I've found so far is at a place in St Charles called the Deck Yard and at Menards. Both are around $6.50 for 3 hole line posts and $10 for 10 foot rails. I think I may wait for a sale at Menards since I'm not in a big hurry and buy them then. I need about 300 feet so even 10% is a pretty good savings.
thanks for the suggestions

(Deck Yard)
My son went to high school with the owners son. I could sure spend some money (if I had any left) over there fixing up the back yard. I have found if you check pricing on things further west your not competing with all of that St. Charles affluence.
