Solar trickle charging

P=I*V

Watts = amps * volts

.

why not use 'E' instead of 'V' if you are going to the trouble to post a permutation of ohms' law ??

Because he was afraid laypersons would not understand that E is for Electromotive force (Volts) and though that V for volts would be better understood, but on the other hand, the letter I for Amperes (amps) might not be too well understood by people not exposed to Ohm's law either:) Some new descriptions of ohms law show it as V instead of the E.

E= Electromotive force measured in Volts
I= Current measured in Amperes (amps)
R= Resistance measured in Ohms
P= Power, measured in watts.

E=IR Ohms law... not just a good idea... its the law.! Using 9th grade algebra we can solve for any remaining variable if we know 2 of them.
P=EI Power formula. at least in DC circuits.

yep.. i found it funny he used I cor current.. but V for volts.. ;)

I think there may be to many of us old electronics guys on here... :)

Why Chevy didn't put any switched cig lighter outlets in I will never understand. They are all always powered.

I have often wondered why this is not done too. With the multiple 12v outlets now being installed in most vehicles (my ford has 4), you would think that at least one would be switched so you could leave something plugged in and have it power up when the vehicle was started. Or maybe have one or tow which could be configured to operate either way (always on or key switched thru a relay).

Dodge/Chrysler does just that..It is kinda of handy to have both types.

easy to change with a small relay, and a wire over to the fuse box and a lil time behind the plastic.. :)

I used V because that is the proper term in ohms law. "E" is the electric field vector with units of volts per meter, not volts.

i can assure you ohms law , at least when I learned it. was expressed with E=Voltage in the calculation. E=IR etc.. If you don't have grey hair.. you might have learned another version.. :)

I agree lately it has been V for volts. but that is not the way we learned it centuries ago:)

Ohms Law.
