Just finished up converting my snowblower chute from manual to hyd. A 4" stroke cyl. did not have enough movement, and a 6" stroke had to much. But I did not want to limit the movement so I decide on the 6". After some discussion on the Hydraulic section on how to either limit the stroke of a cyl. or how to shorten the cyl. rod. I decide it would be best for me to just lengthen the lever assembly on the chute to accommodate the 6" stroke. I was able to use the existing pivot hoe in the lever and drilled one more to hold the bracket. I also made the bracket it two pieces. This accomplished two things. 1) I did not need to lengthen the lever as far, and B) I only used one bolt to hold the two pieces together to work as a slip clutch, if you will, should the chute ever becomes frozen up and when I try to adjust it, it should slip rather then bending up something. The only problem I had is if I moved the chute too abruptly it would slip a little bit without being frozen. So I drilled a 1/ 8" hole and put a aluminum pop rivet in to act as a shear pin. So far, so good. I am curious to see how it will preform this winter.
