Snow Equipment Owning/Operating Snow plow sizing

What is the maximum size snow plow I would be able to use on a Kubota L48 or comparable size tractor? I will be plowing fairly level driveways with some slight grades mixed in as well.

Frame mounted plow or FEL mounted plow?
"Average" type of snow? (dry, wet)

The average snow fall pretty much runs the gamut. Plowable snow could be from 3" wet to 3' feet powdery snow during a Noreaster. In all honesty its kind of hard to put a finger on, but normally i'd say +/- 6 inches, 5 or 6 times a year.

I think chains or no chains would be a huge deciding factor. Tractor size and horsepower are useless if you can get the power to the ground.

Wide enough that the tractor wheels are on plowed ground when the blade is angled.

If you mount the blade on the front frame, then I'd say easily an 8' would work for your tractor.
I've a 7' blade on a Deere 4300 32 hp, and have enough oomph to handle more (but don't need any more, especially if my wing plow is going to work as planned )

I run a 6.5' Meyer on my Jinma 284 with no chains and it does fine. Its 28 HP. It handled 18" snow in the picture no problem but I have since loaded the rear tires.

There might be a legal limit if you are plowing on public roads - UNLESS you are plowing for the Town, State, etc and/or in a declared emergency.

I know I have a 8ft on the front of my L48 and I wish I could find a used 9 or 10 ft it would handle either one with out any problem
