Mr Bob... don't lose that bobcat in the snow! Hate when power lines ruin a great image - time to engage Photoshop!

NSB - I did wear one tonight - lane done in record time. Expecting more tomorrow. Cab is not as warm as one would expect... plus I like the to be warm. On a sunny day it can get too warm even in winter - I usually open the roof top door! What's it like up your end of the province?

Nothing at all happening up here yet. The weather forecast sounds interesting - could get anywhere from 15-46 cm, mixed in with rain and ice pellets, high winds with 110 kph gusts, and a strong storm surge. Let's see how close they come this time! :D

Here's a little collection of pictures and snow. We have actually lost a great deal of snow cover over the last couple of days. It was 37 degrees here in southern MN on Christmas day. And it was raining. I'm sure it has happened before, but I have lived here all my life and never remember it raining on Christmas. The warm weather sure cleaned off all the snow on my steel roofed garage in a hurry. I probably had 2-3 feet of snow drifted up on the south side of the garage. The warm weather combined with the rain, sent the whole mass sliding down the roof all at once. Not sure what the mass weighed, but the gas flue (double wall pipe) for my hanging garage furnace didn't slow it down. It folded it right over at the roof line. Took the storm collar and cap right off with it. So no heat in the garage this winter. Oh well, spring is only 3 months away.

While you are waiting for Spring :D, look around for a good snow fence to mount about 18" up the roof above your flue pipe. They need not be too high, just 6" or so, but well anchored to a couple rafters/trusses. They work, but the downside is the snow will back up above them and not slide clear off the roof above the fence. Stainless steel is good, as it doesn't rust and make streaks on your roof. The fence bottom should be about 1.5 to 2 inches above the roof to allow snow melt and rain to run beneath it.

I lost the plastic dome off a Sola-Tube the same way. Now I have fences above everything and no more wipe offs.
Dave.

Looks pretty but I agree it will be a PITA when it turns to rain. It started here about 9 am, got none at all last night. You going to wait until tomorrow to clear it again?

No. I will be going out before dark today - probably start at 4pm. Usually takes me a couple of hours. I do my lane and a few neighbour's driveways.

Snowing big flakes now and it is -0.8c... hopefully it will get colder rather than warmer!!!

Hey Scott,

I thought about it yesterday... with beer in hand... but it was too pretty to destroy the scene. So I grabbed an old fold up chair and sat and watched a few pheasants poke around the manure pile.

I have often sipped a little while sitting in a chair in the snow... nice thing is your drink seldom gets warm!!!

Your views are endearing. We have a main valley in our province with similar views and when we retire we will probably move there. Although I like being by/near the ocean I enjoy the views of the changing seasons more and the change of landscape due to agricultural activity.

Nice photos fellas, but way too cold for me. I'll stick with the Texas winters. This AM it is 22, but is supposed to warm up to 50.

All that snow and it had to rain. Why does it have to rain in Jan?,
It doesn't help the gardens any,it just ruins a perfectly good snow storm.;)
Not much snow in Conn. river valley, maybe 5"
