When I did my Mule upgrade project...

I spent quite a bit of time (over a month) reading reviews of some of those types of radios. In the end, I only wanted to spend the money once, and have something that was going to last, be decent quality and not fail if exposed to the elements.

In the end, we installed a Jensen JHD910 radio with the recommended waterproof speakers and flexible antenna.

Amazon.com: Jensen Radio JHD910 Complete Kit - Waterproof Mini AM/FM/WB/Stereo / 3.5" Mini Speakers Waterproof / Top Side Rubber Antenna - ATV/UTV: Automotive

I bought everything separately, but only because the kit wasn't in stock at that time.

A great little radio, speakers are decent, can plug in an MP3 player and it has weather channels as well. A little pricey, but seems well built. I've thought about putting this system on my GC2300. Granted it is under the roof on my Mule, but it does appear to be fairly waterproof.

Good luck!

I'd suggest something with an amp. I bought and installed Hog Tunes for my wife's Harley. It's basically a set of handlebar mount speakers with a small amp that connects to the bike battery. She plugs in her iPod and listens all day when riding. I'd think there must be a radio setup for that, but I don't know how much you're willing to spend.

After installing a pretty expensive radio and speaker set in the cab of my NH 3050 I now hardly ever use it at all. Even with the outside sound reduction provided by the cab I have to turn it up relatively high to hear it well. I mostly use a Howard Leigh ear muff set that includes speakers and plug in a tiny sony radio that fits into my front pocket. I can adjust the sound to a comfortable level and cut out 90% of the tractor noise. Works great for me.

think i would go with a good tractor radio. going over plowed ground ditches ruts and other rough stuff my radios take a beatting but they still play good after all the abuse.

I use a SanDisk Sansa MP3 player with ear buds. I wear hearing protector muffs over those. Beats listening to commercials and I load whatever I want to the player. The player is about the size of a car door fob and I clip it on the inside of my shirt pocket.

Here's my system installation on the buggy top frame on my 50 8N. Quality sound at an affordable price. Only problem is a little static while listening to the AM for ball games and talk radio. Quick detachable for changing from one tractor to another, and for thwarting thieves. Works on 6V or 12V systems with internal AA rechargeables :D Mark

your phone has an rca jack on it? when was it made? 1947?

or did you mean phonograph? ;)

3.5mm / 1/8 are common small headphone

1/4 are large headphone and commonly called 'phone plugs / jacks '

2.5mm are specialty plugs/jacks, can be for audio or power, commonly audio on some phones and 2 way radios, especially on wired hads free setups.

RCA plugs/jacks came out in the 40's. Commonly called 'phono' plugs / jacks. rarely they might be called CINCH, and depending on application a/v connectors.

then you get intot he various full and micro DIN plugs, full and micro xlr etc.. etc.
