slow hydraulics 1540

i have a massey 1540 that seems to have lost its hydraulic speed all of a sudden. i have spoke with massey techs who think it could be the forward reverse valve seal but i don't know where that is. Do you?

I may be the inner hydraulic filter which could be blocked with scum take it out and wash it with petrol andthen blow it with compressed air... many people change the outter filter and forget to clean the inner wire mesh filter

where is the other filter ? i have a 1540 it has the big screw on filter but thats all . bruce

with the screw on filter their is a small screen filter on the hyd line near the hyd pump to protect the pump, some operators had a tendency to remove this screen to allow hyd oil flow faster to the pump BIG MISTAKE It is a celender [round] filter 30mm x 15mm,

If you study the parts books, it shows only the spin on suction filter. The 1240-1260 had a large suction screen in the tank but the 1400 and 1500 series of the same size appears to have used the spin on to replace the tank screen.

Iwas on a tour of china , sorry I DID NOT get back to you sooner, also check your hyd oil grade ,as i got caugh out once and learned the hard way, In europe its 32 light It may differ according to climate(its mild where i live) I HOPE YOU ARE SORTED , IN SOUTHERN CHINA I SAW SMALL FARMERS USE USED ENGINE OIL MIXED WITH ANIMAL FAT AS HYD OIL IN THEIR TRACTORS AND NO SUCH THING AS A FILTER..
