I have a 1700 and there is about a 1/4 to 1/2 turn slack in the steering. While I was flushing the radiator for summer use; I checked the steering system. All rod ends look to be o.k. I noticed under the hood that the steering box has what looks like a set screw of some sort. Will this adjust for any slack? There is great information on this site and figured I would ask the pros before messing with it. Any info would be great!

The set screw will take up a little but not much. Sounds like you have a bearings going bad, or the gears inside are getting wore out. I have a complete steering column off a YM2202 that may work but you would also need the steering wheel to. If intrested let me know

I have had two apart recently and both were beyond repair. I got a rebuilt from one of the dealers on here. After I did that it was painless finishing the job.

The YM2202 uses a different steering box. I have rebuilt boxs & parts available for your tractor.
